PCI opened in 1979 to meet the needs of the fledgling Canadian Film and Video Industry. Its founder, Gerd Kurz, was an optical engineer who trained in Germany under Schneider Optic. Over the years, we became recognized as a leading distributor and authority in professional broadcast and production products.
As the industry matured, so did the technology. The landscape has changed considerably since our inception. The AV (audio/video) and IT (information technology) industries have converged into one hybrid industry, creating a new and dynamic entity known as AV/IT. Concurrent with this technical evolution, we began the transformation from reputable sales and service outlet for the broadcast industry, into a value-added provider of the emerging services and technologies of the new AV-IT Industry.
