Case Studies
At PCI we pride ourselves on the quality of our work and on delivering turnkey solutions. We have many successful installations and projects to our credit, including:

Toronto Police Service (Law Enforcement):
PCI designed and installed a public space monitoring system for the Toronto Police Service, the largest municipal police force in Canada and the fifth largest in North America. Our engineers developed customized software and recording systems to aid the service in their surveillance of key strategic areas within the city. There are currently 30 pan-tilt-zoom IP cameras deployed throughout the city on a dedicated gigabit fiber transport network with significant expansion expected soon. All cameras are housed in customized environmental enclosures suitable for the extreme temperatures of Toronto.

Goodrich Landing Gear (Aerospace):
A division of Goodrich Corporation that develops and supplies landing gear for the aerospace industry. PCI developed and installed a complete turnkey solution consisting of 15 PTZ network cameras and an IP based recording system. Our solution aids this technically advanced company in monitoring production and testing. It also facilitates review of testing procedures for further analysis.

Lakehead University (Education):
A $4 million project highlighting our expertise in IP based communications, including videoconferencing and IP monitoring. PCI aided in the design and development of Advanced Technology and Academic Centre (ATAC). This world class facility boasts smart classrooms built entirely on an IT backbone, and allows classroom activities to be streamed to remote locations. The ambitious plan substantially enhanced the school’s ability to reach northern and global communities and students.

Altamira (Financial Sector):
With more than $5.1 billion in assets under management, Altamira ranks as one of Canada’s largest direct providers of mutual funds and investment solutions; but as its success continued to grow, it increasingly had a need for more frequent communication between its Toronto headquarters and its National Bank of Canada offices in Montreal. With more people participating in its information sessions, conference calls were becoming increasingly difficult to manage. PCI installed a complete videoconferencing solution that facilitated remote meetings and maintained the personal ‘face to face’ element.

St. Catherines Hockey Arena (Sports/Entertainment):
Precision Camera designed and installed a complete audio-visual system as part of the arena’s renovation. All projectors and displays are IP enabled and report back to a centralized server for control and diagnosis.

Toronto Police Service (Law Enforcement):
Installed a system of IP based network players that manage training videos for Police staff. The system was integrated seamlessly into an existing network and is controlled centrally, allowing for content to be pushed to all participating divisions.

Vancouver Film School (Broadcast/Education):
PCI was instrumental in helping this facility transition into the realm of HD by successfully introducing XDCAM HD camcorders. The first phase saw the school integrate the latest Sony PDW-335 XDCAMs along with HDCAM and other related production equipment into its graduate film program. The transition to the HD equipment and workflow has been extremely smooth, with the biggest issues being the adjustment of techniques for shooting, lighting, makeup and set design to account for HD’s superior resolution. The second phase involves the deployment of the new PMW-EX1 XDCAM EX compact HD cameras, which record onto SxS PRO memory cards. VFS is the first Canadian educational customer to deploy Sony’s leading-edge XDCAM EX cameras. The final phase of the HD upgrade will see VFS roll out numerous Sony HDV products to its various multimedia programs.

Sheridan College (Broadcast/Education):
PCI was instrumental in the design and installation of the new Media Arts Control room at Sheridan College. This incredible facility now boasts one of the most advanced television production facilities of any educational institution in Canada. The wide-screen digital production included DVCAM cameras and decks, studio cameras, CCU’s and other ancillary equipment – everything students need to prepare them for a future in production.
